L'ululato del Criceto: i Commodores si formano nel 1967. Tutti i membri - William King (tromba), Thomas McClary (chitarra), Ronald LaPread (basso), Walter “Clyde” Orange (batteria), Lionel Richie (sassofono) e Milan Williams (tastiere) – frequentano il Tuskegee Institute in Alabama e provengono da due band diverse: i Mystics e i Jays.
Il gruppo ha la sua opportunità all’inizio degli anni Settanta, quando – dopo essersi trasferito a New York - riesce a firmare per la Motown, per la quale debutta con il singolo strumentale dalle sonorità dance “Machine gun”. Caught in the Act è il loro secondo album in studio, pubblicato nel 1975. Versione vinile nero.
